(ITA) Vengo dalla parte Ionica della Calabria, quella con gioielli rari come la costa di Soverato che con la bassa marea riempie le sue battigie di resti storici come le vasche romane.
Ma oggi voglio parlarvi di Tropea, il più brillante gioiello del Tirreno.
Tropea vive ancora nel passato: ancora vestita coi suoi vecchi abiti, cammini nel centro su vecchie strade di pietra mentre il tuo naso non riesce a decidere se seguire il profumo dei fiori o quello salato del mare più blu che abbia mai visto (e in cui abbia mai nuotato).
Il simbolo di Tropea è la famosa cipolla rossa: dolce e saporita, se la provi non la abbandoni più.
Se visitate Tropea è d'obbligo la pizza con cipolla rossa e tonno o il gelato alla cipolla del mitico Tonino, gelataio vecchio stampo che produce ancora artigianalmente il suo gelato nel piccolo negozio nel centro della città.
Quindi, comprate questo gelato e incamminatevi verso la famosa "balconata": al tramonto sarà piena di curiosi e vi chiederete cosa stiano cercando di vedere? Beh, se sarete abbastanza fortunati da trovare un cielo limpidissimo potrete assistere allo spettacolo del sole che cala e in lontananza potreste scorgere lo Stromboli.
Ogni angolo di questa città merita di essere visitato: dai balconi ricoperti di Bouganville alla moltitudine di negozietti con souvenirs fatti a mano.
Questa citta mi ha rubato un pezzo di cuore.

(EN) I come from the Jonian part of Calabria: there are such jewels like the coast of Soverato, with his historical rests lying on the beach that make an appearance when there is low tide.
But today I want you to discover with me Tropea, the most amazing and brilliant jewel of the Tyrrhenian sea.
Tropea still lives in old times: the buildings wear the same old dress, you can walk in the city center, on old cobblestones road, while your nose will struggle between the scent of flowers and the salty scent of the bluest sea I have ever seen (and in which I have ever swam).
The symbol of Tropea is the red onion: it has such a sweet and good taste that you won't come back again to use other onions in you dishes!
If you'll head up to Tropea be sure to try the pizza with red onion and tuna fish and the delicious onion ice cream made by Tonino, a great ice-cream man that still makes home-made ice-creams and has a shop right in the center of the city. Pick up the ice-cream and walk to the famous "balcony": at sunset it will be plenty of curious. What do they want? They want to see the sun going down and if the sky is cloudless your eyes can even catch the Stromboli vulkan.
Every single part of this city needs to be seen: from balconies fully covered by big bush of Bouganville flowers to the moltitudes of little shops with handmade souvenirs.
This little city stole a piece of my heart, for sure.
